Chun He (He/Him)
Founder/ Canadian Immigration and Refugee Lawyer
Chun is currently a member of the Refugee Lawyers Association of Ontario (RLA) and the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers (CARL).
Chun speaks English and Mandarin and operates remotely – all meetings take place via videoconference.
Chun is a first-generation settler who came to Canada as a minor with his parents. He has exclusively practiced immigration and refugee law since he became certified as a lawyer in Ontario.
Chun provides legal services in all areas of Canadian immigration and refugee law with a focus on complex applications, overcoming refusals, admissibility matters, procedural fairness responses, and judicial reviews.
Chun has consistently sought out opportunities to serve his local community. He has led numerous fundraisers for local charities, developed training programs for drop-centre volunteers, and helped organize tenants to advocate for their rights. During law school, he worked to reopen community gardens that were closed due to overbroad COVID-19 restrictions.
Chun's interest in capability-based justice led him to immigration and refugee law. Chun believes that immigrants are seldom seeking handouts and are simply looking for a chance to access plain and ordinary opportunities (such as a chance to study, to work, and/or to escape violence and find relative safety).
Chun is a passionate advocate who seeks to ensure that people interested in Canada are fairly treated, particularly as immigration decision-makers automate and outsource their decision-making to AI and other third parties.
